My Best Proverbs Post

My best proverbs post can be found here

~~~~~
A novel set in African countryside cannot do without a sprinkle of African proverbs here and there, especially when the elders are giving a speech or discussing in a meeting. Although the ones set in mordern society like hardly use them. They are not supposed to anyway.
I have a few African proverbs in my upcoming novel, set in a little town in Eastern Nigeria in the middle and late 1980s’. I have a couple of gatherings in which family elders are deliberating on pressing family issues. In the gathering of African elders (Igbo elders to be specific)  speeches are not complete without two or more proverbs added. Sometimes an elder uses these proverbs throughout his speech with few normal sentences. These proverbs help drive points home.
I love proverbs, especially those with deep meaning and its tradition on Fiez-writer to share them with you.
Every Saturday, I share my proverb collections with you hoping they don’t bore you.
I delve into proverbs from countries other than mine as well, out of curiosity. And I find most of them fascinating.
My best post on proverbs ranks first on Google search. If you’re new to my website, you should head over to that post and check it out. The link is about. I hope you like it.
Hope you are having a great moment. Blessings🙌.
When The Bait Is Worth More Than The Fish, It’s Time To Stop Fishing – American Proverb
It’s a beautiful Saturday Morning over here in Nigeria and the weather is cool. Hope you’re all doing well wherever you are.
I’m in for fun!😀 Give the meaning of any of the proverbs. If you’re not an American, you are welcome to give the meaning as well. Have fun with it.👍❤. If you don’t have time for this, don’t worry, there’s always another Saturday.
When the bait’s worth more than the fish, it’s time to stop fishing.
Meaning: It’s time to quit investing on worthless ventures. (This applies to all works of life. No gain, no pain) Except of course you’re a charity organisation or a pain enthusiast.😀
The Key To A Healthy Body Is A Good Head – Somali Proverb
This proverb makes me think about my head😀 and how good it sits on my shoulders and how balanced and how beautiful.
Good Head = Healthy Body
What is a “good head”?
Does it have to do with wisdom? Good reasoning?, Good judgement? Discipline? Self-control?
What is a good head?
Dictionary.com says; be intelligent or shrewd; good sense, good judgement.
So if you have a good head sitting on your shoulders, you are intelligent, sensible, wise. You have good judgement, good reasoning and you have the key to a healthy body.
People with good reasoning are the people we look up to for solutions, insnt it? They are the problem solvers, counsellors, advisers, and so on. If you have this good head, you are your own adviser. Even when others make suggestions, you can use your good judgement to determine if you’re well guided.
I believe that every person who is not depending on others to do think and reason has good heads. The problem is how many of the good heads favour the body?
What is a healthy body?
World Health Organisation,
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellness and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
I used to think that a healthy body is a physically fit body or a strong body but how wrong I was.
A healthy body is more than a strong body and it’s not the one without disease either.
A healthy body is a “maintained” body. Do not be confused by this. To enjoy a healthy body, you must use your sensible head and take good care of your body.
If you are not doing any of these already, now is the right time to start.
Visit your doctor regularly, get enough sleep, stay away from contamination, Eat a balanced diet, get lots of exercise (as much as your body allows), avoid harmful life choices or habits, in addition to all these are those things your good head can think of as the right thing to do to maintain a healthy body.
